Herman F. Craft, son of George & Charlotte (Merriman) Craft, was born September 14, 1952 in Painesville, Ohio. Herman grew up at Painesville and graduated from high school.

Herman entered the U.S. Air Force and served his country as a Jet Engine Mechanic. Because of his time in the Air Force, Herman and his family lived in Pensacola, Florida and Las Vegas, NV. Due to a work-related accident, Herman retired after 14 years of service. They returned to Ohio where he lived for most of the remainder of his life. Herman married Patti Barnhouse and there were three children born: Melissa, Faith, and Wayne. They later divorced.

Herman had a love for racing and was a great fan of Rusty Wallace. He raced at the Painesville Speedway in the late 1980’s. He loved football and the Cleveland Browns; baseball and the Cleveland Indians; and fishing.

Herman came to Mount Ayr, Iowa in 2016 to live with his daughter and her family. He passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Wanda Fortin and Bob Craft.

Those left to cherish and share his memory include  daughter Melissa (Ron) Craft-Staso and grandchildren Travis Cosiano and January (Stephen) Gray; daughter Faith (Michael) Burgess and grandchildren Anthony, Dylan and Hunter Campbell; son Wayne Craft and grandchildren Kassandra Craft, Shannin Craft, Kyle Hunt, Mason Craft; former wife Patti Craft; siblings Donna Rice and David Craft; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials are to the Dementia Society of America.
